Robin Mai is an engineer with a wealth of experience in all forms of music production. His history stems back to the early days of Metropolis Studios where he began his career as an assistant to producer Tony Cohen.

After cutting his teeth working on albums such as ‘Let Love In’ by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Robin moved on from Metropolis to work on four albums with Graeham Goble and the Little River Band.

In the late nineties Robin came to Woodstock where he has remained since, working on records for artists such as The Black Sorrows, Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons, Bomba and Killing Heidi. He was nominated for an ARIA in 2004 for his work on the 4x platinum  #1 Australian album from The John Butler Trio ‘Sunrise Over Sea’.

Robin also contributed to the next long player from JBT ‘Grand National’ along with several tracks for Augie March on their breakthrough ‘Moo You Bloody Choir’ record. Their relationship continued with Robin, with additional recording and all vocals for the album ‘Watch Me Disappear’.

The past few years have seen a the demand for Robin’s skills come from every corner of the country, with acts from Sydney to Perth to the northern tip of the country making the trip to Melbourne. But he won’t tell you that though…

When he’s not mixing up a storm you’ll find Robin pondering over the subtleties and perfecting the art of home brewing in his shed at home.
